Psychological rehabilitation for children and families of Ukrainian deceased servicemen from 2014 to 2022

Project content: 21-day psychological rehabilitation programme for families with children; recovery, resilience, stabilization.

Basis for project development: psychological assistance to families who had lost a father, a breadwinner or a relative during the war in Ukraine.


ACTUALITY:

Due to the military aggression of the russian federation, many Ukrainians have lost their relatives (father, breadwinner) since 2014. Military wives who have lost a loved one and their children who have lost their father now need to be provided with quality psychological and rehabilitative assistance when experiencing loss and grief.

The aim of psychological rehabilitation is to stabilise and restore the family's mental health, crisis therapeutic help in coping with grief and loss, art therapy, sports activities, master classes, communication with psychologists, entertainment, ethnic and historical tours, acquaintance with the cultural heritage of Zakarpattya, hiking in the mountains, rest and relaxation, patriotic education.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

At the request of the Foundation “For my Ukraine” group of psychologists has developed a multifaceted rehabilitation program, which will provide an opportunity for families who have experienced acute (4-5 months since the loss) and prolonged state (from 2015-2016) of grief and loss, to restore mental health, physical fitness, relaxation time, psychological rehabilitation program; receive crisis psychological help. Children are given the opportunity to socialise with their peers and find new friends, while their mothers (relatives) are given the opportunity to recover, receive therapeutic and psychological help, rest and gain strength for further active life.

Direct number of participants during the 21-day psycho-rehabilitation programme - 20-23 persons (13 - children of servicemen who died during the war in Ukraine in 2015-2016 and in 2022, 10 - mothers and guardians of the children (women)) ;


MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:

1. To develop a psychological programme for overcoming post-traumatic stress disorder in children and mothers (guardians), psychological rehabilitation in the state of (acute and prolonged) experience of grief and loss.

2. Raise funds to cover the estimated cost of the project - 629,972.64 UAH.

3. To provide the rehabilitation programme for 23 participants.

4. To highlight the results of the programme.
